Passport, IC, MDAC, AUTOPASS — don't get caught at the checkpoint. Here's the complete checklist.
The good news: cross-border travel between Singapore and Malaysia is straightforward. You don't need a visa, no formal pre-registration, no queues at consular offices.
What you do need: a passport with at least 6 months validity remaining. Every passenger crossing the border must have one.
Singapore Permanent Residents should bring both their NRIC and passport. The NRIC isn't strictly required at the Malaysia side, but having both speeds things along.
MDAC (Malaysia Digital Arrival Card) is now required for foreign visitors entering Malaysia by air. For land travel by road from Singapore, MDAC is currently not required for short visits — but rules change, so check before you travel.
